Honouring the ANZAC Legacy: Commemorating the Sacrifice of OurService Men and Women
As the nation paused to reflect on the significance of ANZAC Day, Andrew Wallace MP extends heartfelt gratitude to the brave men and women who have served our country, including those from Fisher and the Sunshine Coast, and across Australia.
On this poignant day of remembrance, we pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our ANZACs, whose selfless devotion to duty continues to inspire us all. Among the countless heroes who have answered the call of service stands Private Dayle Morrison, whose story serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.
Private Morrison, a local hero from Fisher, exemplified the ANZAC spirit during his service with the 2nd Battalion, 2RAR, in the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication were evident during Operation COBURG, where he and his comrades faced the challenges of TET 68 with unwavering resolve.
Tragically, Private Morrison made the ultimate sacrifice on January 6th, 1968, laying down his life in defence of our freedoms. His memory, along with that of countless others, remains eternally honoured in the hearts of our nation.
"Today, as we gather to honour the ANZACs, let us remember and pay tribute to the remarkable men and women who have served our country with valour and distinction," said Andrew Wallace.
"Their sacrifice and service have shaped our nation and continue to inspire us to strive for a better future. The values of our ANZACS such as Mateship, Courage, Integrity, Compassion, Loyalty and Respect are just as relevant today as they were 109 years ago.”
As the bugle sounds and the nation falls silent in remembrance, let us pledge to never forget the sacrifices made by our ANZACs and to honour their memory by upholding their values, today and every day.
