Initial Response to Labor’s Fourth Budget
Last night's budget was a half-baked political campaign focused on shoring up votes for the next five weeks, not the next five years. After three years of struggle, Australian families were waiting for meaningful cost of living relief, a plan to tackle inflation, and a strategy to lower the skyrocketing cost of energy. Instead, we were offered a cruel hoax tax cut that won’t touch the sides for Australians worse off under Labor.
70 cents a day in a year’s time – that’s what Labor has proposed, while a family with a mortgage is paying $50,000 more than they did just three years ago. Less than $5 a week. Less than $20 a month. Just over $250 a year. That’s not a tax cut; it’s not even small change.
Australia is facing the most geopolitically unstable period since World War II, and instead of facing these challenges from a position of strength, our country is weaker, more divided, and less prepared than ever under Anthony Albanese.
The Coalition has a better plan for Australia's future. We will restore hope and aspiration in the Australian economy and the Australian dream by building the infrastructure and backing the industry we need to get the job done. We will balance our migration system to ensure Australians are no longer paying the price for Labor’s big Australia agenda.
