International Women’s Day - Acknowledging First Responder Women

Ahead of International Women's Day tomorrow, I want to pay tribute to the women of our Emergency Services. Our first responders work tirelessly, bravely, and selflessly to protect Australians - sometimes at great personal cost.

Over and over again, I have seen this courage and community spirit in times of emergency, disaster, and during critical incidents. This week in response to Tropical Cyclone Alfred. On patrol at our local beaches. And confronting storms, floods, fires, and carnage across the country.

From the Queensland Police and Ambulance Services to the Queensland Fire Department and SES. From local Surf Life Saving clubs and Coast Guard / Volunteer Marine Rescue to those Rural Fire Brigades up and down the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

To the many Sunshine Coast women who serve in our emergency services, let me say - on behalf of the people of Fisher - Thank You for Your Service.
