Starting Off The Year With a Bible Reading Marathon

Each year, we start the Parliamentary Year with a Bible Reading Marathon - a Multicultural Christian initiative to celebrate our rich heritage and to remind those who work in Canberra that we are called to higher standards and a loving purpose.

I always take the earliest shift I can, before heading straight into the busyness of Parliament, joining colleagues from across the community and the political aisle in reading a passage of the Bible. I read from Genesis 26, a story of about political influencers seeking justice and making peace. An important reminder.
