PSA: Golden Beach, Tropical Cyclone Update
The impact of TC Alfred is already being felt along our coastline, with dangerous swells and erosion worsening at Golden Beach due to the Bribie Island breakthrough.
Over the last few days, I've been on the ground, meeting with locals, council, and first responders to push for immediate action. I've spoken with State MP Kendall Morton MP who has been fighting for action on this issue for a long time.
I've also briefed the Federal Labor Minister for Emergency Management, Senator Jenny McAllister and the Federal Shadow Minister for Emergency Management and Water, Senator Perin Davey so that, should the worst happen, the situation on the Sunshine Coast is front of mind for decision-makers.
While thereβs no need to panic, now is the time to be prepared.

Are you ready? Winds from cyclones can uproot trees, overturn vehicles, and damage homes. Please stay out of the water, secure loose items, and check in on your loved ones.
In the meantime, Iβll keep pushing for action on Golden Beach erosion and will continue working with emergency services to keep our community safe.
