People Smugglers Given Green Light After Latest Visa Debacle
The people smuggling trade is an insidious kind of organised crime, exploiting people and putting Australians in danger. And yet it has been all but greenlit by Anthony Albanese.
Revelations that the Albanese Labor Government have granted more than 21,500 permanent visas to partners and family members of asylum seekers who arrived by boat is just the latest in a litany of failures and errors in judgement from this Government.
This is a direct result of Labor’s decision to undermine Operation Sovereign Borders, particularly through its decision to abolish the use of temporary protection visas.
Now they are not only giving permanent visas to illegal boat arrivals, but their family members too!
Around 19,000 people who arrived before Operation Sovereign Borders commenced in 2013 became eligible to apply for permanent visas after the Albanese Government abolished the use of temporary protection visas (TPVs) and Safe Haven Enterprise Visas (SHEVs).
No wonder people smugglers are testing Australia’s resolve again - they think Labor will eventually give in as they have with this cohort.
After all, Labor has proven, once again, to be weak on crime, weak on security, and weak on defence.
Since the last election 26 boats have attempted the journey to Australia. Astonishingly, 7 have reached Australia.
They're just the ones that we know of.
A Dutton Coalition Government will restore Operation Sovereign Borders to its full strength and again stop the boats which have restarted under Labor.
